Lar, doce lar!

Depois de uma semana a fazer trocas de água regulares neste aquário devido aos níveis de amónia estarem altos, consegui finalmente equilibrá-lo e manter a água com os parâmetros ideais para receber os camarões. Desta vez tentei proporcionar muitos esconderijos e um amplo território, bem delineado, para que os animais se sentissem em casa, revelando o seu comportamento exploratório e cores vibrantes, características desta espécie. Há bastante interactividade entre eles e a timidez parece desaparecer aos poucos, proporcionando-me bons momentos de observação, mesmo junto ao vidro, sem a vulgar reacção de se quererem esconder no primeiro buraco que encontram. Como tal, não podia estar mais contente com o resultado.

Agora resta esperar e apreciar até que o próximo objectivo seja alcançado: a reprodução. Para já, estou muito contente com o rumo que este projecto leva, principalmente quando ainda está no início. Estou a pensar colocar mais uma ou duas espécies no futuro de modo a preencher um pouco mais a biodiversidade do aquário e aproximá-lo o mais possível com o Biótopo onde me inspirei.

Para além dos camarões, introduzi outra novidade que foram os Tylomelania sp. " Super Yellow" ( ainda não há um nome concreto). São caracóis muito bonitos, com um grande contraste entre a concha escura e o amarelo do corpo. Especula-se que a mistura de caracóis pode levar a cruzamentos entre espécies, alterando assim a cor/padrão da concha e do corpo das futuras gerações. Vou ficar atento a isso, embora desconfie que já tenha acontecido entre as várias espécies de Tylomelanias que possuo. Mais pormenores sobre este assunto brevemente...

[ENG] After a week making regular water changes due to high Ammonia levels, I finally got the tank stabled, with ideal water parameters to receive the shrimps. This time, I tried to arrange many hideouts and a large territory, well defined, so they could feel themselves at home, revealing their exploratory behaviour and vibrant colours, characteristics of this specie. There´s enough interactivity between them and the shyness seems to disappear little by little, giving me good observation moments, even when I am standing in front of the glass, without the usual reaction of wanting to hide in the first hole they find. As such, I couldn´t be happier with the results.

For now, all that´s left to do is wait until the next goal is achieved: breeding. For now, I am very happy with this project course, mostly because it´s still in the begining. I am thinking in introducing one or two more species in the future, to compose a bit more the tank biodiversity and get it closer as much as I can to the inspired Biotope.

Besides the shrimps, I also introduced another Tylomelaina specie: Tylomelania sp. " Super Yellow". These are beautiful snails that have a big contrast between their dark shell and the yellow body. Speculations say that mixing snails ( probably this fact is referred to snails from different lakes) can lead to unwanted crossbreading between species, changing the colour/pattern of the shell and body of the future generations. I will be watching if this can happen, although I´m suspicious that such fact happened already between my different Tylomelania species. More news on this subject, soon....
